Mrs. Horswell, 73, Armstrong Woman, Dies
Funeral Services To Be Held at 1:30 Tomorrow
Mrs. Lily Horswell, 73, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday at the home of a son, Byrl Horswell, at Armstrong. Mrs. Horswell had been in poor health for two years.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1:30 at the Byrl Horswell home in Armstrong and at 2 at the Armstrong Methodist church. The Reverend Grode will officiate. Burial will be in the Armstrong cemetery. Pall bearers will be Frank Steiner, John Thorson, John Kingston, John O’Neil, and Lloyd Helgason of Armstrong, and Lee Miller of Dolliver.

Mrs. Horswell is survived by an only son, Byrl, and two grandchildren, Vic and Ann Horswell. Mrs. Horswell is one of a family of 12 children and the brothers and sisters who survive her are Sam Churchill, Will Churchill, Aura Churchill, Mrs. Mary Felkey, all of Armstrong, and Harvey Churchill of Parson, Kans. Mrs. Felkey is 90 years of age.

Lily Churchill was born Jan. 21, 1870, at Osage. She left there with her family in the spring of 1892 to settle in Emmet county. They located at Armstrong, but at that time there was no town there, only prairie. She was married Nov. 1, 1887 to Victor Horswell at Armstrong.

Her husband died Feb. 1, 1916, and since his death Mrs. Horswell has made her home with her son.

She was a member of the Methodist church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 23, 1943)

Mrs. Lily Horswell died Monday [June 21, 1943] at 5:45 p.m. at the home of her son, Byrl Horswell at Armstrong. She was 78 years old.

She had been in poor health for two years.

Lily Churchill was born Jan. 21, 1870 at Osage. In the spring of 1892 she and her family came to Emmet county to settle. They went to Armstrong to live when they came from Osage. At that time there was just prairie. On Nov. 1, 1887, she was married to Victor Horswell at Armstrong. Her husband died Feb. 1, 1916, and since then she has made her home with her son.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Mrs. Horswell is survived by her son, Byrl, two grandchildren, Vic and Ann Horswell; three brothers: Sam Churchill, Will Churchill of Armstrong and Harvey Churchill of Parsons, Kan., and two sisters, Aura Churchill and Mrs. Mary Felkey of Armstrong. Also surviving are several nephews, John Horswell, Garfeld Horswell and Lincoln Horswell of Armstrong and Charles Horswell from Michigan.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 this afternoon at the home of her son and at 2 o’clock at the Armstrong Methodist church. The Rv. Grode officiated.

Burial was in the Armstrong cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Steiner, John Thorson, John Kingston, John O’Neil and Lloyd Helgason of Armstrong and Lee Miller of Dolliver. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 24, 1943)
