Armstrong – Graveside services for Ferd Herman Lau, 73, Brunswick, Ga. and formerly of the Estherville-Armstrong area, were held Thursday afternoon at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Pastor Don Sarff of the Nazareth Lutheran Church officiated with Henry and Olson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He died Friday, Feb. 18, 1983 in a Brunswick, Ga. hospital.

Lau was born Aug. 17, 1909 at Huron, S.D., the son of Frank and Martha (Kapitzke) Lau. He was married to Marie England on Nov. 6, 1934 at Estherville. He lived in Halfa, Estherville, Lake Mills, Minn. and Denver, Colo. before moving to Brunswick. While in Estherville he worked at John Morrell and Co. and Johnson Trucking Co. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include one son, Larry of Brunswick; two daughters, Betty McCart and June Dodds, Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Orville Lau, Spencer; one sister, Eva Lau, Benson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 25, 1983)
