James Laffey
Armstrong – Services for James Romaine Laffey, 60, will be held Friday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Armstrong with the Rev. Marshall Monthei of United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. Thursday.

He was born April 5, 1930 at Armstrong, the son of Joseph and Nellie (Verbrugge) Laffey. He was a 1948 graduate of Armstrong High School and attended the Fort Dodge School of Business. Following college he worked for Weyerhauser in Minneapolis before returning to Fairmont, Minn. where he was employed as a bookkeeper for Iowa Road Builders until that firm moved to Des Moines. He also worked for Rohlin Construction as a bookkeeper. He had been in ill health for several years and made his home with his brother, Raymond, in Armstrong. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He is survived by four brothers: Donald of Mesa, Ariz. and Armstrong; Robert of Sacramento, Cal.; Raymond of Armstrong and Jerry Laffey on Onawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Warren and Duane. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 30, 1990)
