John Laffey, 51, Dies
John Laffey, 51, farm laborer in the Ringsted, Armstrong and Dolliver communities, died at 8:55 o’clock last night at Holy Family hospital.

Mr. Laffey has been in poor health for the past two months with immediate cause of death attributed to a heart condition. He had been hospitalized at this time for the past week.

The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Laffey. John Laffey was born April 17, 1905 on a farm located between Dolliver and Armstrong.

Just prior to his illness, Mr. Laffey had been employed at the W.H. Carson farm near Armstrong for two months and for several years previously had been with the John Schupfers near Ringsted.

Survivors include a brother, Harold of Dolliver, and a sister, Mrs. Howard Kiter of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clifford and three sisters, Mrs. Myron Baker, Mrs. Tom Olson and Mrs. Morris Danielsen.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Methodist church in Armstrong, the Rev. R.D. Tappmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Armstrong Grove cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 3, 1956)
