Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Ben Kinander [Kinnander] home for Mrs. Bertha [Benson] Kinander who has made her home here with her sons Ben and Herman Kinander for several years. Mrs. Kinander was born in Norway, Feb. 3, 1849 [per cemetery records, February 5] and passed away Dec. 24, 1934 at the home of her son Ben, north of Armstrong at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 21 days. Prior to coming to Armstrong she lived in Illinois, but since the death of her husband she has made her home with her sons. She leaves three sons, Ben and Herman of Armstrong and G.A. of Moline, Ill., 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 8, 1935)
