Former Armstrong Woman Seattle Slaying Victim
Seattle, Wash. – A former Armstrong resident and her husband have died in an apparent homicide-suicide in Seattle’s Queen Anne Hill District, police say.

Police said Friedrich Kovar, 39, died at his home after he apparently shot himself in the head late Wednesday.

His wife, Carol, 30, the daughter of Mrs. Helen Henriksen of Armstrong and the late Mr. Clifford Henricksen, died a short time later in a Seattle hospital of multiple gunshot wounds.

A neighbor reported hearing several shots from the Kovar home, then saw Mrs. Kovar lying in the doorway, officers said.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kovar are pending at the Henry Funeral Home in Armstrong.

She was born January 19, 1945 [per ss death index and cemetery records January 17, 1945] in Estherville. The couple was married September 5, 1970 in Seattle, where they lived.

Mrs. Kovar is survived by her mother; and two brothers, Robert Henriksen of Armstrong and Roger Henricksen of Indianapolis, Ind. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 11, 1975)

Armstrong – Funeral services for Carol Kovar, 30, formerly of Armstrong, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Armstrong Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Morphew officiating and burial in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died after shooting incident at her home in Seattle, Wash. Henry Funeral Home, Armstrong, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kovar, the daughter of Mrs. Helen Henricksen, Armstrong, and the late Clifford Henricksen, was a 1963 graduate of Armstrong High School. She attended Iowa State University for two years before transferring to the University of Minnesota where she graduated with a nursing degree. She was married to Friedrich Kovar Sept. 5, 1970 in Seattle where he worked as a production engineer. She had lived in Seattle since 1969.

Mrs. Kovar is survived by her mother, and two brothers, Robert, Armstrong, and Ronald, Indianapolis, Ind. She was preceded in death by her father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 14, 1975)
