Armstrong – Funeral services for Frances E. [Elizabeth] Kloss, 89, of Armstrong will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sat., Feb. 21, 1998, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. She died on Fri. Feb. 13 at Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, Minn.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1908 in Kansas City, Kans., the daughter of Powell and Adolfina (Koschisuko)[Kosciusko] Kloss. She moved with her family to the Armstrong area as a child and attended Armstrong High School in 1927. She then attended college in Cedar Falls and received her bachelors degree in teaching in 1937. She taught country school in the Armstrong area for several years. She then moved to Galesburg, Ill., and taught school in the Galesburg High School. She also continued her education and obtained her masters degree from the University of Illinois in 1950. She retired in 1975 and returned to the Armstrong area where she was active in volunteer activities. She received the Governor’s Volunteer Award Citation on two separate occasions.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong, the Emmet County Council on Aging and the Northwest Iowa Aging Association.

She is survived by her niece, Mrs. Charles (Sallyanne) Wargo of Baltimore, Md.; grand nephew, Quincy Wargo of Los Angeles, Calif.; and grand niece, Kelly Wargo of Baltimore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 17, 1998)
