Parkersburg - Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Knipe received word Saturday [October 2, 1920] of the death of their granddaughter, Ramona Knipe, at the hospital in Ames [October 1, 1920], where she had been for several months suffering from tuberculosis. Mr. and Mrs. Knipe went to Armstrong Sunday to be present at the burial. Ramona was 19 years old and made her home with her grandparents here for a number of years. Ramona Mary Knipe was born in Parkersburg, Iowa, April 3, 1902 being at the time of her death a little over nineteen years of age. At a very early age she moved with her parents to Armstrong, Iowa, where her early childhood was spent. Six years ago she moved with her mother to Ames vicinity where she has since resided.

Ramona was a member of the – high school and would have graduated with the class of 1 had she not been compelled to give up her studies on account of failing health.

About eighteen months ago she developed influenza which had complications which she was never able to throw off in spite of the mother’s devoted nursing and the best efforts of modern medical science. --- months she has been a great sufferer but very patient and – who came in contact with her.

Ramona was a very ambitious girl, in fact much – ambitious for one so frail. It was her great desire to obtain a college education and occupy a prominent place in the affairs of the world.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, one sister, three aged grandparents and other relatives besides a host of friends, who were numbered by her acquaintances. The funeral was held at the family residence in Ames conducted by Rev. – G. Crowder, pastor of the --- at Marshalltown, who is a good friend of the family, and the body was taken to Armstrong for burial with the father who departed this – some years ago.
