Armstrong – Mrs. Inez (Ellen) Kelly, 89, Armstrong, died Sunday [November 15, 1981] at the Valley Vue Nursing Home, Armstrong.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel, Armstrong, with the Rev. Charles Fender Jr. of the Free Methodist Church of Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Friends may call until time of services Tuesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong.

The daughter of William S. and Margaret (Hockett) Thackrey, she was born Dec. 15, 1891, at Whitten. She was educated in the rural Kossuth County schools. She married Frank Kelly on Feb. 11, 1914, at Fairmont, Minn. They lived in the rural Ledyard area until her husband’s death in 1955, when she moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she resided for a number of years. She later moved to Fairmont and then became a resident of Valley Vue on Oct. 2, 1978. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ledyard.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Maude Jongberg, Armstrong, and Mrs. Cora Browning, Forest City; one brother, R.V. Thackrey, Armstrong.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Deloris Mayne Anderson, a niece she reared.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 16, 1981)
