Armstrong – Gerald (Jerry) [Everett] Johnson, 59, Armstrong, died Thursday [December 29, 1983] morning at the Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with Pastor Don Sarff officiating. Burial will be at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery with full military graveside rites. Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong, after 4 p.m. today and one hour prior to services at the church.Mr. Johnson was born June 1, 1924 at Dresser, Wis., to Harry and Leila (Warman) Johnson. He graduated from Osceola High School, Osceola, Wis., 1942, and served during World War II with the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946.
He moved to Armstrong in 1950 and married Dorothy E. Wegner May 18, 1958 at Armstrong. He was a farmer, a truck driver, and employed by Arts-Way Manufacturing Company and Quaker Oaks Elevator, both of Armstrong. He was a member of the VFW, Armstrong.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Armstrong; one brother, Lorrell Hanson, St. Paul, MInn.; three sisters, Mrs. Duane (Thelma) Vanderwerf, Dresser, Mrs. Harvey (Zoe) Emerson, St. Croix Falls, Wis., and Mrs. Richard (Annis) Riechow, Roseville, Minn.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 30, 1983)
