Services for Armstrong Man Tuesday
Oscar Johnson, 67, retired Armstrong farmer, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday [November 13, 1953] at Holy Family hospital following a week’s illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Nazareth Lutheran church at Armstrong, the Rev. H.E. Rasmussen officiating and the Rev. L.G. Hinderaker of Estherville assisting. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born July 14, 1886, a Kirkman in Shelby county and moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson, to Armstrong in 1900. They farmed east of Armstrong at that time.

He married Evelyna Braband of Randall and three children, a daughter and two sons, were born to this union. He retired from farming in 1946 and moved to town.

Surviving his death are his wife; daughter, Mrs. G.A. (Mildred) Burt of Armstrong; granddaughter, Marily Burt of Armstrong; four brothers, George and Casper of Willmar, Minn., Gerhard of Cylinder and Joe of Armstrong; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Nordby of Butterfield, Minn.

Preceding him in death were two sons, Mervin who was killed during World War II in the Philippines, and Otis who died in infancy; his parents; and a sister Mrs. Mary Opsal of Armstrong. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 16, 1953)
