Armstrong – Services for Mrs. Duane (Geraldine) Widdel, 52, Fenton, were held Sunday, June 4, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with Pastor Don Sarff officiating. Burial was in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Widdel passed away June 2 at Fairmont Community Hospital. Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Fenton, was in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 17, 1925, at Armstrong to Mr. and Mrs. Ole Opsal, and received her education in the Armstrong school system.

April 22, 1943, she married Duane Widdel at Laredo, Texas. The couple lived in the Armstrong and Fenton area after their marriage and has spent the last three years in Fenton.

Her survivors include her husband, Duane, Fenton; one son, Gary, Savage, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Rohfeld, Armstrong; three sisters, Mrs. Jenny Frettie and Mrs. Mavis Snyder, both of Austin, Minn., and Mrs. Richard (Ruby) Krumm, Armstrong; and three brothers, Otis Opsal, Algona, Orville Opsal, Ceylon, Minn., and Virgil Opsal, Portland, Ore.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 6, 1978)
