Armstrong – Services for Mrs. John (Mary Caroline) Whitesell, 66, Armstrong were held Monday morning at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Fred Boyce officiating. Interment was in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Saturday [March 13, 1982] at the Fairmont Community Hospital.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home of Armstrong was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Caroline Mason was born in Iowa Falls on Jan. 3, 1916 the daughter of Daniel and Ada (Astling) Mason. The family moved to Walnut Grove, Minn. when she was a young girl and she attended Walnut Grove schools. After high school the family returned to Iowa Falls where she was united in marriage on Jan. 26, 1916 to John Whitesell of Armstrong. They farmed in the Armstrong area.

She is survived by one son, Doug of Armstorng; two grandchildren, Lora and Daniel, Armstrong; two brothers, Oliver Mason, Porterville, Calif. and Robert Mason, Annaheim, Calif.

Mrs. Whitesell was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 15, 1982)
