Olive Welte
Armstrong – Funeral services for Olive Stella Welte, 80, of Armstrong will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Armstrong. She died Saturday, July 4, at the Woodside Convalescent Center, Rochester, Minn.The Rev. Donohue Sarff, pastor, will conduct the services, with burial to follow at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery with the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation at the funeral home will be 3 to 9 p.m. Monday.
She was born April 17, 1907, at Slater, the daughter of Tom and Isabelle (Johnson) Tow, and received her education in the Slater and Depew country schools. She married Virgil Welte April 19, 1930, at Willmar, Minn.
Olive lived in Wallingford for many years before moving to Armstrong about 10 years ago following Mr. Welte’s death in 1977.
Ms. Welte was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church at Armstrong.
Survivors include five sisters: Mrs. Gertrude Pape and Mrs. May Hanson, both of Armstrong; Mrs. Nellie Haack of Emmetsburg; Mrs. Art (Thressa) Larson of Armstrong, and Mrs. Clyde (Anna) Burns of Reno, Nev. and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Tow of Rose Creek, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 6, 1987)
