Virgil Welte
Estherville – Virgil (Curly) Welte, 74, Wallingford, died about 7:30 a.m. Monday [May 23, 1977] at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville, after a short illness. Funeral services for Mr. Welte will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Wallingford Lutheran Church. The Rev. Wesley Brodin will officiate, and burial is to be at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong.Mr. Welte was born Nov. 4, 1902, at Flanagan, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Christian J. Welte. He came with his parents as a young boy to the Armstrong area and was educated in the Armstrong schools.
He married the former Olive Tow on April 18, 1930, at Wilmar, Minn. Mr. Welte was employed in the construction industry in the Armstrong area. He retired and lived in Wallingford for the past 12 years, and is a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church.
Mr. Welte is survived by his wife, Olive, Wallingford, and two brothers and four sisters, Christian Welte, Brooden, Minn.; Donald Welte, Earlville; Mrs. Gay (Edith) Howell, Fairmont, Minn.; Mrs. Bill (Thelma) Hutchins, Fairmont, Minn.; Mrs. Chet (Velma) Walters, Sheridan, Mont.; and Mrs. Swede (Alice) Bauman, Alexander, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, between 9 a.m. Wednesday and noon Thursday when the body will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily news, Estherville, IA, May 24, 1977)
