Armstrong - Mrs. Esther [May] Watts, 85, Armstrong, died Jan. 2 at Valley View Nursing Home, Armstrong.Services for Mrs. Watts will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Armstrong Presbyterian Church with the Armstrong Presbyterian Church with the Revs. James and Faye Fedlam officiaiting. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Family services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Friday.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Burt, she was born June 3, 1893, at Armstrong. She received her education in Armstrong schools and was married to Allen R. Watts on Aug. 22, 1916 at Armstrong.
The couple lived in the Halfa and Armstrong area and Mrs. Watts managed the hot lunch program at the Halfa school for 16 ½ years. They moved to Armstrong in 1969 and she has been a resident of the Valley Vue Nursing Home at Armstrong since January, 1977.
Mrs. Watts was a member of the Armstrong Presbyterian Church and a charter member of MOMS of America.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Janice) Schnittger, Fairmont, Minn., and Mrs. Albert (Berneile) Madson, Ringsted; two sons, Ivan Watts, Glencoe, Minn., and John Watts, Bakersfield, Minn.; one foster child, Mrs. Nick (Daisy) Powgnas, Wolstock; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Crawford, Mount Vernon, Wash.
Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, three sisters and one grandchild. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 4, 1979)
