Allen Watts of Armstrong Area Dies
Allen R. Watts, 70, longtime resident of the Armstrong and Halfa communities, died at 12:02 this morning at Holy Family Hospital. He had been hospitalized since Tuesday.

Mr. Watts came to the Armstrong community at the age of 26 from his home town of Freedom, Ind. where he was born July 4, 1887, the son of John and Jane Watts.

He was married to Esther Burt at Armstrong on Aug. 22, 1916. He farmed in the area most of his life and for eight years was assessor for Armstrong Grove township.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian church at Armstrong.

Survivors are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Albert Madison of Armstrong and Janice at Mankato State Teachers College; two sons, Ivan of Ringsted and John of Bakersfield, Calif.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Everett of Bloomington, Ind., and Eugene of Greencastle, Ind.

Also among the survivors is Mrs. Daisy Dowgnas of Clarion who was reared in the Watts home.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian church at Armstrong with the Rev. A. R. Orr officiating.

Interment will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 15, 1958)
