Obituary
Anna [Hummers] Griese was born at Emden, Germany, February 20th, 1851. At the age of five she came to America. She was married to John Greise [Griese] March 1871 at Foreston, Ill. To this union twelve children were born. Her husband preceded her in death in February 1899, her son, Claude, August 1914 also two other children died in infancy. The following are left to mourn her loss: George at Lakota, Iowa; Henry at Odessa, Minn.; Mrs. Ida Kish, Dawson, N.D.; Hiram, John, Evert, Martin and Mrs. Claude Benton, all at Dolliver, Iowa; and Mrs. Emma Harness, Wheatland, N.D.She was a member of the Presbyterian church at Foreston, Ill., and kept the faith.
She was a loving wife and mother, and a kind neighbor.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Armstrong, Rev. Marsh of Dolliver delivered the sermon, Rev. N.L. Hotchkiss, assisting. Interment was at the Armstrong cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 28, 1923)
