(Too late for last week)The little five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Griese passed to the Beyond Sunday [December 9, 1917] morning. Little Eva was sick with scarlet fever for two weeks. [per 1915 census, born about 1913 in Iowa]
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon His love had given,
And though the body slumbers here
The soul is safe in Heaven. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 19, 1917)
