Armstrong – Funeral services for Vera A. Gram, 85, of Armstrong will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Paul Rothfusz officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. She died April 3, 1998, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong.Visitation was held Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.
She was born on May 8, 1912, at Williams, the daughter of Theodore E. and Pricilla (Espeland) Thompson. She began her education in the country schools at Williams. She moved to the Swea City area as a young girl and completed her education in the country schools in Kossuth County. She was united in marriage to Harry E. Gram on February 11, 1932, at Estherville. The couple farmed in the Armstrong, Half and Ringsted area. They moved into Armstrong in 1975. She has been a resident at Valley Vue Care Center since November of 1997.
She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and WELCA of Armstrong. She was a charter member of the Harmony Sewing Club and several card clubs.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Gram Johnson of Swea City; grandchildren; Mrs. Steve (Shirley) Peterson of Omaha, Neb.; Allan Johnson of Sioux City; Mrs. Mark (Dee Ann) Antony of Omaha, Neb.; three great grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Brand of Albuquerque, N.M.; Maxine Carlson of Estherville and brother Maurice Thompson of Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 13, 1993; her parents, one sister and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 6, 1998)
