Armstrong – Services for Raymond [John] Gram, 79, of Armstrong, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church at Swea City with the Rev. Robert Conner officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with full military graveside rites by the Armstrong VFW Post. He died March 9, 1995 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Blue Earth, Minn. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Armstrong is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Jan. 29, 1916 at Ringsted, the son of John and Emma (Torkelson) Gramm [Gram] and attended Halfa and Armstrong Schools. On Aug. 22, 1936 he married Kathleen (Kay) Robinson at Fairmont, Minn. The couple lived in Armstrong where he worked at the Armstrong Creamery. During WWII he served with the U.S. Army in Germany. Following his discharge from service he farmed near Gruver, Estherville and Swea City areas until retiring in 1989 when they moved into Armstrong.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Swea City; the VFW in Armstrong and the American Legion in Swea City.

Survivors include his wife, Kay of Armstrong; a son Larry Gram of Stewart, Minn.; three grandchildren, Chris, Mollie and Jim Gram.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; parents; four brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 11, 1995)
