Armstrong – Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, for Mrs. Emma Marie Gram, 96, Armstrong. Rev. Don Sarff officiated and Henry and Olson Funeral home was in charge of services. She died Friday [September 4, 1981] in the Valley Vue Nursing Home.She was born July 19, 1885, the daughter of Andrew and Nellie (Nustsul) Torkelson. She received her education in the Fort Dodge schools. On Sept. 1 1904 she married John Gram and they lived in Fort Dodge until 1947 when they moved to Armstrong where she has lived since. She has been a resident of Valley Vue Nursing Home for the past five years.
She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Mrs. Gram is survived by five sons, Harry and George (Bob) Gram, Armstrong, Elmer Gram, Maple Hill, Andrew and Ray Gram, Swea City; one daughter, Mrs. Anna Stoner, Laurens, Ia.; ten grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two children, one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 8, 1981)
