Estherville – Services for Elmer Donald Gram, 67, Estherville, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong with Pastor Kermit Rye of Estherville Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with military services by the Armstrong Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He died Friday, June 13, 1986 at Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
He was born Nov. 20, 1918 at Ringsted, the son of John and Emma (Torkelson) Gram. He attended Halfa School through eighth grade. He served in the United States Army during World War Two in the Pacific Theatre after enlisting July 17, 1942. On Nov. 6, 1966 he was united in marriage with Doris Jennings Norland at Fairmont, Minn. He worked for Iowa Road Builders on road construction around the state; also Arts-Way Mfg. Co. in Armstrong. He lived in Armstrong and Maple Hill most of his life and moved to Estherville in 1984 after his retirement. He was a member of Armstrong Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Survivors include his wife Doris, Estherville; one step-son William Norland, Algona; three step-daughters: Rojeanne Monson, Bolivar, Mo., Dianna Webb, Eagle Grove and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Walters, Estherville; 15 step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Ray Gram, Swea City; Harry and George (Bob) Gram, Armstrong; and one sister Mrs. Anna Stoner, Laurens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and an infant sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 14, 1986)
