John Gram, Former Resident, Dies
Word has been received here of the death of John Gram of Armstrong. He was a resident of Humboldt many years ago. He was a cousin of James N. Johnson of Humboldt. (Humboldt Independent, Humboldt, IA, October 25, 1949)

Rites Held for Two Residents of Armstrong
The Armstrong community was saddened by two deaths over the weekend. Mrs. Cecil Watrous, 74, died at her home Friday following a lingering illness. Death came to John Gram late Sunday at his home. Gram had been in poor health for about a year.

Services for John Gram were held this afternoon in Nazareth Lutheran church with the Rev. Harry C. Mostre officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 26, 1949)

Humboldt, Oct. 29 – Funeral services for John Gram of Armstrong, former resident of Humboldt and Fort Dodge, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran church at Armstrong, with the Rev. H.C. Mostre in charge. Burial was in Armstrong Grove cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Whitesell, Edward Burgess, Edward Reece, John Lanc, Orval Jones and Leonard Williams. Mrs. Martin Lund was the vocalist with Mrs. Richard Krumm as the organist.

Mrs. L.H. Locker and Mrs. Inez Halverson had charge of the flowers.

Mr. Armstrong [Gram] was born Oct. 23, 1874 at Ise of Als, Denmark and died on his 75th birthday at Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, formerly Emma Marie Torkelson of Fort Dodge; one daughter, Mrs. Milo Kesler of Estherville; five sons, Andrew, Harry, Elmer and Robert of Armstrong and Raymond of Swea City. A son, James and a daughter, Myrtle, preceded him in death.

Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Attending the funeral from Humboldt were Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Skow, Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Torkelson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Torkelson and Mrs. Norman J. Edge. (Fort Dodge Messenger, Fort Dodge, IA, October 29, 1949)
