Brought to Hospital With Ruptured Appendix
Armstrong, Nov. 1 – John Gorndt [Goerndt] died at a hospital in Estherville Tuesday morning after an operation Monday afternoon for a bursted appendix.John Gorndt was born in Minnesota [Illinois] on January, 1884, making him 49 years old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Bessie Steinberger in February, 1922. Besides his wife he leaves seven brothers and two sisters, Charlie of Des Moines, Will, Armstrong, Art, Glendale, Minn. and Lewis, Herman, George and Henry of Ceylon. The sisters are Mrs. Fred Pdigey [Plenge] of Ceylon and Mrs. Charlie Smickley [Schmidtke] of Fairmont.
Funeral services are being held today (Thursday) at the Lutheran church in Armstrong. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 2, 1933)
John Goerndt, 40 [49], died in an Estherville hospital Tuesday morning of last week [October 31, 1933], following an operation for appendicitis. He was a brother of Mrs. Charles Schmidtke, of Fairmont, and a brother of George, Herman and Louis Goerndt of Ceylon. Another sister is Mrs. Fred Plenge of Ceylon and there are other brothers, Will, at Armstrong; Charles at Fort Dodge and Arthur, Glenwood, Minn. Funeral was in Armstrong Thursday.
