Armstrong
Martha Tisor was born in Union, Hardin county, Iowa on May 22, 1869, and passed away at her home in Armstrong on August 4, 1942, at the age of 73 years.

She grew to womanhood in Hardin county. She was united in marriage with Joseph Steinberger in 1884. They continued to reside on a farm in that vicinity. Her husband died in 1915. The next years Mrs. Steinberger with her family moved to the vicinity of Armstrong, living on a farm. In 1930 she moved into Armstrong where she has resided until her death.

In young life she united with the Church of Christ at Whitten, near where she resided at that time. In this community she was affiliated with the Methodist church in Armstrong, and was an active member of the Ladies Aid society and the Dorcas class in Sunday school. Not long ago the Dorcas class in large numbers met in her home in their monthly social meeting.

She is survived by three children, Merle, Charles and Mrs. Bessie Gorndt [Goerndt], all of Armstrong. There are seven grandchildren. A son, Harry, died two years ago.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church on Friday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Reverend M.D. Bush, the pastor.

Burial was in the Armstrong cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, August 11, 1942)
