Donald Gage Dies; Services Set Thursday
Donald Harper Gage, 70, died Monday [October 12, 1970] afternoon at the Rosewood Manor in Estherville.He was born June 5, 1900, to Harper and Maggie Gage, in rural Emmet County and was educated in Emmet County Schools.
He married Beulah DeVary in Estherville on March 21, 1923, farmed in Emmet County and was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Estherville.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Beth) Peterson, Wallingford, Mrs. Virgil (Gertrude) Shipley, Brandon, S.D.; three sons, Dareld of Sioux Falls, Donald Jr. of Dolliver, and Gailen of Estherville; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford of Lacygne, kan., and Richard of Owatonna, Minn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Harrold (Orpha) Wickert of Redlands, Calif., and Mrs. Roger (Elva) Burne of Raytown, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah, who died May 1, 1968, his parents, a brother, Garland, and two granddaughters.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church in Estherville with burial at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating.
Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and Thursday until 11 a.m., when the body will be taken to lie in state at the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 13, 1970)
