Armstrong – Services for Marvin John Fothergill, 77, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Marshall Monthei officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Thursday, Oct. 4, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Sunday.

He was born October 25, 1912 at Armstrong, the son of George and Sarah (Harrison) Fothergill and attended rural school. On Oct. 2, 1934 he was united in marriage with Lillian Dolf at Swea City. The couple farmed north of Armstrong until retiring in 1976 when they moved into town. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Armstrong; Fairmont Rock & Gem Club and Armstrong Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian; three sons: John, Ringsted; James and Earl of Armstrong; one daughter Mrs. Marlin (Mary) Prindle, Fairmont, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Ted (Grace) Schacherer, Estherville and Harriet Verbrugge, Swea City.

He was preceded in death by a son, infant daughter; parents; two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 6, 1990)
