John Flier
Estherville – Services for Earl John Flier, 68, rural Estherville, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Gruver Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Neal Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Tuesday, April 2, 1985 at his home.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home.

He was born May 14, 1916, near Armstrong, the son of John and Eda (Loewenberg) Flier, and received his education in Halfa. On March 1, 1938 he married Mildred Larsen at Holstein, she died in April of 1979. ON Jan. 12, 1980, he was united in marriage with Josephine True at Fairmont, Minn. He farmed all his life, first near Ceylon, then near Armstrong, and since 1949, north of Gruver. He attended the Gruver Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife Josephine, Estherville; one son, Larry flier, Westminster, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Curtis (Louise) Roemhildt, Janesville, Minn., Mrs. Carl (Lavonne) Ruschy, Estherville; two stepchildren, Richard True, Grenada, Minn., Mrs. Ronald (JoAnn) Niss, Fairmont; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; five step-grandchildren; a brother, Lester Flier, Goodland, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Leo (Florence) Guerdet, Armstrong, Mrs. Pearl Burt, Fenton, Irene Taylor, Grand Rapids, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Mildred, a grandson, parents, and a brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 4, 1985)
