Mrs. John Wesley Goodge Passed Away Thursday
Mrs. John Wesley Goodge died at her home in this city Thursday [January 19, 1911] evening. Funeral services was held at the home Monday morning and interment made in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. The following obituary was written by a friend:

Ida Milenda [Melinda] Robinson was born July 11, 1875 near Lake Crystal, Minnesota. The deceased spent her girlhood days in and on a farm near Lake Crystal. She has many friends and relatives residing in and near Lake Crystal who mourn her loss. On May 27, 1899, at the age of twenty-three, she married John Wesley Goodge a resident of Lake Crystal. Four children were born to them during their twelve happy years of wedlock, three boys and one girl, Winnifred, aged eleven years; Parry, aged nine years and Luverne aged fourteen months. The three little fellows are left to mourn the loss of a dear and loving mother. One girl baby, Ruth Estella, aged twelve hours, a twin to the baby boy died same day of birth. The deceased never regained her good health after the birth of the twins, and it is thought this had effect on the sickness that caused her death. Her last and fatal sickness was of four weeks duration and she suffered untold pain but never flinched or wavered from her motherly duty and bore her trials and pains with a stout heart. She tried to rally her scattering forces to regain her strength for her battle for health and her dear ones but like many others of our dear mothers her generalship could not compete with the stronger forces of disease and the modern ways of fighting it.

On Thursday, January 19, 1911 she was called to that better land where no sorrows and temptations are known and at ten minutes to five o’clock p.m. she breathed her last. She had spent thirty-five years, six months and nine days on this earth doing her allotted duties of life without a murmur. All who have known her know her as a good mother and a dutiful and loving wife. Her friends and relatives she has left behind may profit by her life’s work, her trials, her sufferings and experiences. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 25, 1911)
