Lavoda Mandaline (Paris) England (Mandy) the daughter of Charlie and Lavoda (Spear) Paris, was born June 28, 1920 on a farm north of Armstrong Iowa. She died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Valley View Care Center in Armstrong at the age of 92.

Mandy was raised in Armstrong and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1938.

On June 4, 1938 she was united in marriage to Lyle England. Following their marriage, the couple farmed and raised their family in the Seneca area. After Lyle and Mandy retired from farming, Mandy went to business school and worked as a secretary. Mandy then opened "The Flower Garden Plus" (a gift shop) in Eagle Grove, Iowa for ten years. In 1989, the couple retired to their hometown of Armstrong,
Mandy was active in the Eastern Star for 20 years, serving as president for Armstrong for one year, Grand-Chapter for two years and then General-Grand-Chapter for one year. She was a fifty year member.

Mandy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong.

Left to cherish Mandy's memory are her children, Jean Mogler of Prescott Valley, Arizona; Jerry England and his wife Judy of Mayer Minnesota; Mary Schmidt and her husband Darrel of Lone Rock Iowa; Barbara Carra of Austin Minnesota; Richard England and his wife Dori of Cherokee Iowa; and Roger England and his wife Marie of Estherville Iowa. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her husband Lyle in 2000, brothers, Loyd, Barney, and Bill; sisters, Elma Cheever, and Jane Schmit; sisters-in-law, Grace Paris and Naomi Paris; daughter-in-law, Luella England; brothers-in-law Louis Schmit and Arnold Cheever; sons-in-law, Robert Carra and Robert Mogler and grandson Josh O'Leery. All eight of Lyle’s family are deceased. (MC)
