Mrs. England of Ringsted Dies at 71
Mrs. Lillie Mae [Mitchell] England of Ringsted died at 12:10 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital. She died of a stroke at the age of 71. She had been in ill health for the past six weeks.Mrs. England was born May 25, 1880, near Ingrahm in Clay county, Ill. She attended school there and was baptized at the age of 13 in the Christian church.
On June 21, 1896, she married John A. England, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1934. They resided in Illinois until 1901 when they moved to Myrtle Creek, Ore. Six years later they moved to Alberta, Canada, and lived there for five years. They farmed in Rockwell City until they moved to a farm near Ringsted in 1917 but returned to Rockwell City in 1920. Mrs. England has been living in Ringsted since 1924.
She is survived by nine children, Mrs. Viola Bigellow of Rockwell City, Ottis England of Ringsted, Mrs. Ollie Tapps of Rockwell City, Mrs. Ethel Hutchinson of Jolly, Mrs. Hazle Hutchinson of Fenton, Mrs. Marie Lau of Estherville and Roy England of Ringsted; 26 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Ringsted funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church, the Rev. W. O. Harper officiating. She will be buried in the Armstrong cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 21, 1951)
