Armstrong Man’s Rites Saturday
Valdon Lyle Eckholm, 69, of Armstrong died at his home Wednesday [October 10, 1973] evening.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Free Methodist Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Robert Osborn officiating. Interment will be at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call a Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Armstrong until noon Saturday.

Mr. Eckholm was born Dec. 25, 1903, at Seneca to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Eckholm. He received his education in rural Kossuth county schools.

Mr. Eckholm married Alma Anderson on Feb. 13, 1923 at Estherville. He was employed by Emmet County, the Rock Island Railroad and also in road construction.

Mr. Eckholm is survived by his wife, Alma; two sons, Lyle of Shakopee, Minn., and Kenneth of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Phyllis) Thackery, Mrs. Richard (Betty) Paulson and Mrs. Leo (Margie) Walders, all of Armstrong; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Vida Burgess of Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Pallbearers are Ronald Weisbrod, Roger Weisbrod, Gary Thackery, Dennis Thackery, Larry Walders and Terry Walders. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 12, 1973)
