Mrs. Dundas Dies at 89 in Armstrong
Mrs. Mary Dundas, 89, lifetime resident of the Armstrong area, died yesterday at 5 p.m. at the Turner Nursing Home at Armstrong, where she had been a resident for the past two years. Death was attributed to infirmities of advanced age.The former Mary Maude Mathews was born July 2, 1877, at Armstrong, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mathews.
Aug. 24, 1897, she was married to Frank Dundas at Algona. The couple farmed in the Armstrong area until Mr. Dundas died in 1926.
Mrs. Dundas was active in the Women’s Relief Corps and the Red Cross for many years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge, Rebekah Lodge, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marlin (Valeta) Graese of Burt, Mrs. Beulah Andrews of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Herman (Azelene) Jaskulke of Granada, Minn.; two sons, J. Arnold Dundas of Chicago, Ill., and Dr. R.J. Dundas of Santa Anna, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Martha Barton of San Pueblo, Calif., Mrs. Nelle Moore of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Harriet Morgan of Armstrong.
Mrs. Dundas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Dale Dundas; an infant daughter; three brothers; and one sister.
Servicers will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Slaba-Reese Funeral Home at Armstrong, Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. tomorrow and until time of services Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 22, 1966)
