Pioneer Resident Died Suddenly Last Friday
Frank Dundas, Long Time Resident of Emmet Co. Dropped Dead While at Work
Frank Dundas, for many years a resident of Emmet county, dropped dead suddenly last Friday morning while he was driving some hogs around his pasture. His death was due to heart failure. Mr. Dundas is one of the oldest pioneers of Emmet county and for several years has made his home near Armstrong. At the time of his death he was living on a farm two miles southwest of Armstrong. He was known to a great many people all over the county and his sudden death will be regretted by all his friends. A complete obituary will appear elsewhere. Well Known Pioneer of Emmet County – Had Lived At Armstrong Since 1869
The community of Armstrong and surrounding county were shocked to hear of the sudden death of Frank Dundas, well known farmer and cattle buyer on last Friday [July 30, 1926] morning. While he and his two younger sons, Arnold and Ross, were driving some hogs to town to be shipped, he dropped dead, not far from his home. Mr. Dundas has been in good health but apoplexy was the cause of his sudden death. Francis H. Dundas was born in Kossuth county, near Armstrong, February 25, 1869, and lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dundas, early pioneer residents of this county, for many years. He was united in marriage in 1897 to Mary Maude Mathews of Armstrong, and to this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters. Mrs. Martin Griese, of Dolliver, Beaulah, who is a nurse in the Mayo hospital at Rochester, Minn., Angelene, a teacher in the Kossuth county schools and Dale, Arnold and Ross, who reside at home. In addition to the loving wife and children mentioned, three sisters survive, Mrs. Jennie Carroll, of Armstrong, Iowa, Mrs. U.V. James of this city and Mrs. Wm. Hirth, of Armstrong, Iowa. Funeral services were held a the opera house at 2 o’clock p.m. Monday in charge of Rev. Carver of the Methodist church and burial was made at the Armstrong cemetery. The floral offerings were very beautiful and the opera house was filled to capacity with relatives and friends of the departed. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the residents of the entire county, throughout which the deceased has been known and respected for so many years.
