Armstrong – Services for Dorothy M. Duitsman, 87, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1991 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
She was born Sept. 28, 1903 at Pomeroy, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Bruns) Holtorf and attended Pomeroy schools. On Sept. 28, 1921 she married Hillis Duitsman at Pomeroy. Following marriage the couple farmed at Fonda, Emmetsburg and Ayrshire areas. In 1956 they moved to Armstrong and in 1986 she became a resident of Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and LCW.
Survivors include six sons: Fred, Ozark, Mo.; Kenneth and Gordon of Estherville; Raymond of Everett, Wash., William Duitsman of Lynnwood, Wash. and Richard of Armstrong; six daughters: Mrs. Elmo (Iris) McConnell, Versailles, Mo.; Mrs. Loren (Dolores) Anderson, Port Wing, Wis.; Mrs. Paul (Violet) Kliegl, Amherst, Wis.; Mrs. Larry (Carol) Janssen, Norfolk, Neb.; Mrs. Ronald (Helen) Rose, Fairmont, Minn. and Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanne) Gettler, Alpha, Minn.; 45 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Louise Minneman, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband who died Nov. 25, 1989; two brothers; one infant sister; one grandson and one great-granddaughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 12, 1991)
