Roy Drake, 55, Dies In Sleep
Body Found by Brother and Nephew in His Room
Buffalo Center – Roy Drake, 55, was found dead in bed Tuesday morning when his brother, Lester, and a nephew, Bennett Bruhns, called at his room. Mr. Drake lived alone and it is thought he died in his sleep during the night.

Roy Drake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Drake, was born in Illinois and when a small child moved with his parents to Iowa Falls. Soon afterwards the family came to Winnebago county settling near Buffalo Center.

Five years ago Mr. Drake returned to Buffalo Center from Armstrong where he had been employed in the light plant and garage for many years. He had since been associated with his nephew, Bennett Bruhns, in the feed business.

He was preceded in death by his wife and 1 son and leaves 2 daughters, Mrs. Bernice Todd and Mrs. Marie Todd, both of Minooka, Ill., besides 2 sisters, Mrs. Fenno Bruhns of Buffalo Center and Mrs. V.D. Cummins of Fairmont, Minn., and 2 brothers, Carl of Cedar Rapids and Lester of Buffalo Center.

Funeral Services Held for Roy Drake
Funeral services for Roy Drake were conducted at the Slaba Funeral Home at Armstrong on Friday afternoon, December 10th, with the Rev. Grote in charge. Interment was made at the Armstrong Grove cemetery beside his wife and son.

Roy Drake, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Drake, was born in LaSalle County, Illinois, on August 5, 1888, and died after a long illness at his home at Buffalo Center, Iowa, December 6, 1943, at the age of 55 years, 4 months and 1 day.

In his early childhood he moved with his parents to Iowa Falls, then to Forest City and on to Buffalo Center, where he spent most of his boyhood days.

He was married to Miss Minnie E. Cummins of Armstrong, Iowa, on February 22, 1911. To this union three children were born, one son, Arnold Mryvin [Mervyn], passed away February 8, 1918; and two daughters, Berneice Lucille (Mrs. Marvin Todd) and Marie Fern (Mrs. Orville Todd), both of Minooka, Illinois. His wife preceded him in death April 19, 1925.

He also leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, Pearl (Mrs. Fenno Bruhns) of Buffalo Center, and Ethel (Mrs. V. Cummins) of Fairmont, Minnesota; and two brothers, Karl o Cedar Rapids, and Lester of Buffalo Center; also three grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends attending the services were his two daughters and husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Todd and Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Todd of Minooka, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Drake of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. V.D. Cummins of Fairmont, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Cummins of Dolliver, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Drake of Crystal Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Fenno Bruhns, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Bruhns, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Drake, Margaret, Howard and Charles, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Gibson, Mr. Frank Murray and Geo. A.
