Clem Dotson, 67, Dies of Heart Ailment
Clem [Orville] Dotson, 67, Okoboji, well-known Emmet County resident for many years, died last night at approximately 8 o’clock at Holy Family Hospital, his death attributed to a heart condition. Mr. Dotson had not been feeling well all last week and Sunday was brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

Mr. Dotson moved to the Armstrong area in 1929 and lived there until last March at which time he and Mrs. Dotson moved to Okoboji. The Dotsons farmed southeast of Armstrong from 1929 until 1958 at which time they purchased and moved to a farm located three-and-a-half miles west of Armstrong.

Mr. Dotson resigned his position as acting postmaster at Armstrong in March, 1960, a position which he had held since Mary 1, 1954, to become Republican candidate for state representative.

A longtime member of the Emmet County Farm Bureau, Mr. Dotson had served the Farm Bureau as county president for two years and as voting delegate for three years.

He was an elder of the Armstrong Presbyterian Church before transferring his membership to Spirit Lake this year. He also was a charter member of the Armstrong Kiwanis Club and had been a member of the IOOF since 1926.

Born near Saybrook in McLean County, Ill., May 28, 1895, Mr. Dotson was married Feb. 15, 1915 to Florence Gochanour at Bloomington, Ill.

Surviving his death are his widow; four sons, Gail of Armstrong, Vernon of Des Moines, Merlin of Estherville; Darrel of Rock island, Ill.; two daughters Mrs. Emmet (Gladys) Eastman of Estherville, Mrs. Harvey (Noradel) Larson, Swea City, and 13 grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Violetta Feek, Salem, Ore., Mrs. Gretchen Brooks, Normal, Ill.; and one brother, Roy Dotson of Columbus, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one son, Keith.

Funeral services for Mr. Dotson are to be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church at Armstrong, the Rev. Benjamin Swede, Spirit Lake, and the Rev. James Rowe, Armstrong, officiating. Burial will be in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
