Marion Daries
Armstrong – Services for Marion Edward Daries, 73, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Donohue Sarff and Robert Arne officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with full military graveside rites by the Armstrong VFW Post. He died Monday, April 9, 1990 at the Valley Vue Care Center, Armstrong.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Jan. 24, 1917 at Ware, the son of Edward and Margerite (Chapman) Daries and attended Ware School, graduating from high school in 1933. On Oct. 19, 1939 he married Maxine Johnson at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He was Postmaster for several years, employed by Arts-Way and Iowa State Highway Comm. He later owned and operated M.G.M. in Armstrong and retired in 1979.

Daries was a member of the Presbyterian Church; North Star Masonic Lodge, Estherville and Disabled American Veterans. He served with the U.S. Army in France and Germany during World War Two.

Survivors include one son, Randy, Armstrong; three daughters: Deanna Cross, Cable, Wis.; Mrs. Ken (Mary Ann) Wolter, Fairmont, Minn. and Mrs. Rick (Jane) Clark, Prior Lake, Minn.; his father Edward Daries, Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Francis) Lux, Winona, Minn.; and a special friend, Maxine Woodin, Pocahontas.

He was preceded in death by his wife June 7, 1979; one son and his mother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 11, 1990)
