Armstrong – Services for Edward John Daries, 93, of Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Armstrong, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong with the Rev. John Werth and the Rev. Amanda Werth officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Thursday, Mar. 21, 1991 at Autumn Years Care Center at Chandler.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Sunday. Masonic service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was born June 23, 1897 at Armstrong, the son of Fred and Edna (Reber) Daries and attended Armstrong School, graduating from high school then attended Minneapolis Telegraphy School. He was married to Marguerite Chapman Feb. 2, 1917 in Armstrong. She died in 1934. November 14, 1937 he married Helen Oelberg at Dolliver, she died in 1976. He worked on the Rock Island Railroad as a depot agent from 1918 until 1966 when he retired. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong Kiwanis Club and past Master of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Frances) Lux, Winona, Minn.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; son; grandson and one sister.

The family requests memorials be given to First Presbyterian Church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1991)
