Mrs. Charles Cronk Dies; Rites Today
Funeral services were scheduled today for Mrs. Charles (Amy) Cronk, 69, longtime area resident, at the Free Methodist Church in Armstrong, Rev. Fred Johnson officiating. Burial was in Armstrong cemetery.Mrs. Cronk died of a heart attack at 2:15 p.m. last Friday [July 31, 1964] in her home. She had been ill for the past year.
The former Amy Fletcher was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Fletcher at Lakota on March 16, 1895. She received her education in the Lakota schools.
On March 12, 1912, she was married to Charles Cronk at Armstrong.
The couple moved to the Ringsted area in 1944 from a farm they were operating near Halfa. Mrs. Cronk moved to Armstrong in 1956 after the death of her husband on March 12, 1955. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church while in Armstrong.
She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. James (Mildred) Kirk, Durand, Wis.; Mrs. Gilbert (Phyllis) Minno, Durand; and Mrs. Virgil (Avis) Besow, Tyler, Minn.; three sons, Joy, Emmetsburg; Wesley, Eau Gallie, Fla.; and Rev. Paul Bertrum; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Cronk, Northfield, Mrs. Ben (Edith) Soper, Ceylon; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband and one son, Kenneth. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 3, 1964)
