Twin sisters, Mrs. John Craig and Mrs. Anna Thoms, celebrated their 80th birthdays together Sunday, Nov. 13, with a family dinner at the home of Mrs. Craig. More than 50 relatives joined them for the birthday dinner, including Mrs. Craig’s six children and their families, and three of Mrs. Thom’s five children, and their families. Both women, now widows, have lived together since the death of Mr. Craig last September. Mrs. Thoms had previously lived in the Fairmont area for 15 years. Mrs. Craig has lived in the Armstrong area for more than 50 years. The twin sisters were born Nov. 12, 1875, in a log cabin at Ackley. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 26, 1955)

Mrs. Craig of Armstrong Dies at Home
Mrs. John Craig, 81, a long-time resident of the Armstrong community, died this morning at her home. She had been bedfast since last May.

Mary Jane Luscombe was born Nov. 12, 1875, in a log cabin at Ackley. She was married to John Craig on Apr. 15, 1896 at Radcliffe.

The couple moved to Armstrong in 1902 and farmed north of there until they retired in 1943. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary before Mr. Craig’s death in September, 1953 [1955].

Six children survive. They are Mrs. Sam Butcher and Ralph Craig, both of Armstrong; Frank Craigh [Craig] of Dolliver, Lloyd Craig of Farnhamville, John W. Craig of Minneapolis and Mrs. Harvey Hanson [Hansow] of Detroit.

Three sisters and three brothers also survive along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The sisters are Mrs. Craig’s twin, Mrs. Anna Thomas [Thoms] of Fairmont, Minn., Mrs. Amie Houck of Radcliffe and Mrs. Tom Manley of Armstrong. The brothers are James Luscombe of Ceylon, Minn, Tom and John Luscombe, both of Fairmont, Minn.
