Craig Rites Are Monday
Funeral services for John Craig, 78, who dropped dead on Armstrong’s main street Thursday [September 15, 1955] afternoon, will be held in the First Methodist church at Armstrong on Monday at 2 p.m. the Rev. S.E. Polovina officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery.John Craig was born in Radcliffe on Feb. 17, 1877 and came to the Armstrong area in 1902. He farmed until his retirement to the town of Armstrong abut 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Craig [Mary Jane Luscombe] celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in April of this year.
Surviving besides his widow are four sons, Lloyd of Farnhamville, Ralph of Armstrong, Frank of Dolliver, and John Jr. of Minneapolis, and two daughters, Mrs. Sam Butcher of Armstrong and Mrs. Harvey Hansow of Detroit, Mich. There are 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson also surviving. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 17, 1955)
