ARMSTRONG, Iowa - Services for Marguerite "Marge" J. [Josephine] Colegrove, 93, of Armstrong will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Armstrong. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Marguerite (Marge) J. Colegrove passed away peacefully October 16, 2012, at Valley Vue Nursing facility in Armstrong, Iowa. Marge was born June 1, 1919, in Harmony, Minn., to Ingebret and Josephine [Peterson] Soma.

She was educated in the Harmony school system through high school. After that she attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., receiving a degree in teaching and music.

She taught in the Halfa, Armstrong, Dolliver and Ringsted School Districts. Marge married Frank Colegrove June 10, 1944, in Hayfield, Minn. They farmed in the Armstrong area until after Frank's death in 1976. She enjoyed living on the farm and was active in the PTA, substitute teaching, gardening, singing in the choir at church and directing children's choir for many years. Marge also enjoyed word find books and crocheting potholders, which have been given to others around the USA. She was a gentle spirit and will be missed by her family and friends.

Marge was over a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Worthy Matron and in various other capacities.

Marge is survived by her son, Charles Colegrove and his wife, Brenda of Armstrong, Iowa; daughter, Sonja Cope Thomas and husband, Hazen, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; granddaughter Tara Jungclaus and husband, Brian; grandson Jared Colegrove and wife, Lindsey; two great-grandchildren Macy and Grayson Colegrove. She is also survived by two brothers Kermit Soma and Alfred Soma of Harmony, Minn., and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ingebret and Josephine Soma, her husband Frank, brother, Merion Soma and grandson, Jerry Cope. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 19, 2012)
