Word came from California that Wm. I. Colt was dead and would be brought to Fredericksburg for burial. He used to live between here and Fredericksburg. The body arrived Tuesday [April 1, 1913] and the funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, under Masonic auspice. (Sumner Gazette, Sumner, IA, April 3, 1913)
H.B. Colt was called to Fredrickburg Sunday [March 30, 1913] to attend his father’s funeral. The old gentleman was 82 years of age and passed away at Whittier, California, a few days before. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 2, 1913)
Saturday [March 29, 1913] evening we enjoyed a call from Henry Colt, who owns the leading blacksmith shop in Estherville. He was on his way to Fredricksburg to attend the funeral of his father, who died a short time ago in southern California. The old gentleman was 82 years of age. The writer knew Henry Colt in Chickasaw county 35 years ago. He is an upright, substantial citizen and we are pleased to learn that he is prospering in Estherville. One of his daughters is principal of the schools at that place. – Emmetsburg Democrat (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, April 3, 1913)
