Mary E. Colgrove [Colegrove]
Death came to Mary E. [Elizabeth Anne] Colgrove Monday morning [February 20, 1939] at 3:15 at the Coleman hospital in this city. Mrs. Colgrove had been ill for some time and had been receiving treatment in the hospital for weeks.

She is the wife of Merritt Colgrove and has resided in Emmet county near Armstrong for over 36 years. Before coming to this county Mr. and Mrs. Colgrove farmed in Calhoun county for several years.

Mary E. Colgrove was born in Boone county Jan.29, 1871. She was united in marriage to Merrit Colgove March 4, 1897. To this union there were four children born, Frank and Floyd who are farming the home place near Armstrong, Lewis who died 20 years ago and Mrs. Grace Rupkey of Coolidge Dam, Arizona.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday at one o’clock at the home at Armstrong and at two at the Presbyterian church in that city. The remains were laid to rest in the Armstrong cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, two sons and a daughter, three sisters, Mrs. Ed Keiser of Spencer, Mrs. Amanda Matlack of Ames and Mrs. R.O. Clark of Estherville, Wm. Michels of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Frank Michels of Pipestone, Minn. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 23, 1939)
