ARMSTRONG - Funeral services for Loren "Slim Clayton, 94, of Armstrong will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at United Methodist Church in Armstrong with Pastor Lyndon Roesler officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong with military graveside rites by 5232 of Armstrong.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong.
Loren "Slim" Dale Clayton, the son of Tom and Agnes (DePue) Clayton, was born June 22, 1916, at Ruthven.
Loren grew up in South Dakota. In 1933 he moved to Burt and graduated from Burt High School in 1935. Loren then served in the United States Army during World War II.
Loren moved to Armstrong in 1938. On Feb. 4, 1966, he was united in marriage to Florence Schwartz Boever at the Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple made their home in rural Armstrong. In 1976, he retired from farming and the couple moved into Armstrong. Florence passed away April 22, 1992.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong, charter and lifetime member of VFW Post 5232 and a member of the Armstrong Fire Department's Board of Trustees.
Left to cherish Loren's memory are his stepsons, Walter Boever and his wife, Bev, of Armstrong and Douglas Boever of Belvidere, Ill.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Tammy Boever Reid and her husband, Tom, and their son, Tommy, of Santa Maria, Calif., Jennifer Boever O'Conner and her husband, Tim, and their sons, Logan, Shaun and Evan of Owatonna, Minn., Jeff Boever and his wife, Christa, of Eagan, Minn. and other family and friends.
