Armstrong – Services for Lester Cheever, 80, of Armstrong, who passed away Thursday at Fairmont Community Hospital in Fairmont, Minn., will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Armstrong’s Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong. Interment will be in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Lester Frederick Cheever was born December 9, 1907 to Fred and Martha (Hanson) Cheever in Iowa Lake Township, Emmet County, Iowa. He was educated in the rural Cheever School, Armstrong High School and the Mechanical Technical Institute of Kansas City.

On March 11, 1934 he was united in marriage to Rosella Fritz at Ceylon Lutheran Church in Ceylon, Minn. The couple farmed north of Armstrong during all of their married life. Mr. Cheever was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rosella of rural Armstrong; three sons: Johnnie Cheever and his wife LaDean of rural Armstrong, Leslie Cheever and his wife Carol of Alamo, N.D., and Harvey Cheever of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter: Mrs. William (Joann) Krumm of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Arnold Cheever and his wife Elma of Armstrong; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Fern Rosenberg. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 25, 1988)
