Armstrong – Services for Elma Harret [Harriet] Cheever, 79, will be held Monday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Friday, September 7 at her home in Armstrong.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.

She was born March 25, 1911 in Baldwin, Florida, the daughter of Charles and Lavoda (Spear) Paris. She was educated in Armstrong schools. She married Arnold Cheever in 1932 at Brookings, South Dakota. The couple farmed all their married life north of Armstrong until 1978 when they retired and moved to Armstrong.

She is survived by her husband, two sons: Robert Cheever and his wife, Miky, Woodbridge, Virgina and Clarence Cheever and his wife, Alyce of Armstrong. Two daughters: Mrs. Ray (Elma) “Jane” Ogle, Edgerton, Wisconsin and Mrs. Harlan (Helen) Kinnander, Armstrong. Two brothers, Loyd Paris, Armstrong and Charles B. Paris, Burnsville, Minnesota. Two sisters: Marinda Schmit, Shakopee, Minnesota and Madeline England, Armstrong. Other survivors include 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 10, 1990)
