Armstrong Services for Laura [Hellen] Cheever, 91, of Armstrong, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Don Redlinger officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Sunday, August 4, 1996 at Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, Minn.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.

She was born Dec. 3, 1904 at Armstrong, the daughter of John and Ellen (Babcock) Cheever. She attended Armstrong School where she graduated from high school in 1924. She then attended Buena Vista College graduating in 1928. She taught school a few years in Halfa until her father died. She then cared for her mother and grandmother until their deaths. In 1948 she went to work as a teller at the First Trust and Savings Bank in Armstrong where she worked for 20 years until her retirement. She was a 50 year member of the Presbyterian Church in Armstrong.

She is survived by one niece, Patricia Urban of Milwaukee, Wis. and one nephew, Lyndon Cheever, Jr. of Milwaukee and a dear friend, Mildred Tjensvold of Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 7, 1996)
